Turning the Tide on Eating Disorder Care for Post-Secondary Students

Turning the Tide on Eating Disorder Care for Post-Secondary Students

PIERS is a collaborative, research-informed initiative

Our aim is to improve access to eating disorder care for young adults during the transition to post-secondary life.

Up to 40%

Of post-secondary students experience disordered eating behaviour.

Approx. 13%

Of post-secondary students develop a diagnosable eating disorder

Personalized Care

Current systems don’t meet individual student needs. Early, accessible, and coordinated care improves outcomes.

"Eating disorders have immeasurable impacts on young people and their supports, including hindering academic success".

Dr. Lindsay Bodell, PIERS team.

This project is developing and testing a new model of eating‑disorder care designed specifically for college and university students. Working with The Harbour, researchers will partner with students to improve services so campuses can better support young people’s mental and physical health.
